Join fellow alumni and the broader entrepreneurial community for the annual Founders Day celebration of innovation and entrepreneurship on Wednesday, May 13, 4:30-7 p.m., Walter Library. Learn about innovative projects led by students and faculty aimed at developing new products, testing new business concepts and launching new startups.
The final day to speak with an academic advisor during CSE college drop-in advising for the spring semester is Wednesday, May 13. Drop-in advising will be available via Zoom from 2-4 p.m. on Mondays throughout the summer.
The 2026 CSE Undergraduate Commencement Ceremony will be webcast live from 3M Arena at Mariucci on Thursday, May 14, 1 p.m. Central Time. Salute your favorite graduates and share your commencement photos on social media using hashtag #CSEGrad2026.
Upcoming events
In addition to the College of Science and Engineering commencement ceremony, individual academic departments will host smaller celebrations for their graduates. These invitation-only events give students, faculty and families a more personal setting to recognize academic achievements and milestones.
Network with industry leaders at this year’s two-day Peter O. Stahl Advanced Design Forum. Participants will gather at Cargill on May 14-15 to connect with colleagues, industry leaders and University researchers working on AI-accelerated development and manufacturing of chemicals and materials. Registration is free for UMN students, faculty and staff.
The Minnesota Institute for Astrophysics will host Dr. Chris Lintott for the 2026 Karlis Kaufmanis Lecture on Wednesday, Sept. 16, 7 p.m., Coffman Memorial Union. The lecture examines interstellar comet 3I/ATLAS and related discoveries to better understand the origins and dynamic history of planetary systems.
Upcoming deadlines
The Nordson BUILDS Scholarship Program is accepting applications from students majoring in STEM or business fields who are interested in a career in manufacturing. BUILD scholarships range between $4,000 and $10,000. The application deadline is Friday, May 15.

The CSE Admission to the Major database is now accepting applications for fall semester admission into the major. Most CSE students apply while enrolled in sophomore-level courses. In order to be eligible to apply this semester, you must have all of the required courses (indicated by a diamond on the four-year plan) for your chosen major completed by the end of the semester. The deadline to apply is Monday, May 25.
