Corporate Sponsorship: Precollege career readiness

The College of Science and Engineering is dedicated to coordinating programs for youth—kindergarten through high school—to inspire them toward a future in science, technology, engineering, or mathematics (STEM).

Below are ways you can partner with us to spark interest in the next generation of STEM leaders—or employees in your company.

CSE Student Services Precollege (K-12) Programs

Discover STEM

This three-day, interactive camp allows students entering grades 11 and 12 to network with peers—while learning about current topics in research and academic programs. Participants will also explore potential careers through virtual presentations, laboratory tours, science and technology demonstrations, and question and answer sessions.

Sponsorship ($5,000-$50,000) will support two in-person summer day camps and one summer virtual conference for 75 youth. Plus, the annual budget and fee waivers for participants.

Eureka!

This five-year summer and school-year program for girls entering grades 8 and 9 builds sisterhood and encourages participants to explore their career interests and dreams—plus, supportss them through high school graduation and the next step in their post-secondary education. 

Sponsorship ($5,000-$50,000) will support two in-person summer day camps and one summer virtual conference for 55 youth. Plus, the annual budget and fee waivers for participants.

Sponsorship ($5,000-$50,000) will support a two-day day, overnight summer camp for middle school students (co-ed)—in collaboration with 4-H—plus, annual budget (staff).

Rooted in STEM

A monthly Saturday camp that brings together 10th and 11th graders from historically underrepresented identities in STEM to learn about STEM academics and community support at the University of Minnesota Twin Cities. Participants will be paired with a CSE undergraduate student mentor to engage in enrichment sessions over the academic year.

Sponsorship ($5,000-$30,000) will support the program's annual budget—and impact 25 youth participants and college student mentors.

Field trips and virtual classroom guest speakers

These one-time field trips and virtual classroom presentation by guest speakers will impact about 25 low-income youth.

Sponsorship ($1,000-5,000) will allow us to expand offerings—if we could hire a student worker and offer low-income schools transportation assistance.

Engineering Energy Explorers

This five-week virtual program—collaboration with 4-H—offers one-hour of after-school activities for middle school students.

Sponsorship (up to $1,000) will support the program and impact 25 youth participants.

Other K-12 Outreach Programs

MathCEP

MathCEP offers a variety of award-winning enrichment and outreach programs for middle students throughout the academic year and summer. The goal is to introduce students—500 participants at any given time—to mathematics, specifically topics that fall outside of the traditional school curriculum.

Sponsorship ($5,000) will support and grow the program. Learn more on the MathCEP website. 

Machine Learning Summer Camp

These multiple weeklong camps for 11-12th graders feature a mix of formal instruction modules—where they explore machine learning (ML) concepts and techniques—balanced with Python coding in small teams. Participants work on a variety of ML projects, including predicting who gets searched after a police stop, diagnosing breast cancer from x-rays, or who will win a video game.

Sponsorship ($2,000-$5,000) will sustain the program and bring in more students.
