Alumni Awards Affair
Join the campus community as we honor the 2023 Alumni Awards recipients from around the globe who are shaping their industries and strengthening the University community. Awards to be recognized include the Alumni Service Awards, the University of Minnesota Alumni Association Awards & the Distinguished Leadership Award for Internationals.
Three CSE alumni will be recognized at the event:
Jim Borowick (EE ’85) will receive the Alumni Service Award in recognition of his work to strengthen and expand the partnership between Medtronic’s Women in Science and Engineering (WISE) initiative and the CSE WISE initiative, as well as securing Medtronic volunteers to serve on a number of CSE department advisory boards.
Alyssa Sandholm (BME ’14) will receive the On the Rise Alumni Leader Award for her seven years of mentorship of CSE students, leadership as Chair of the CSE Alumni Society Board, and other community service work, including as an adaptive ski instructor with Courage Kenny Rehabilitation Institute.
Jerry Sosinske (EE ’78) will receive the Advocate of the Year Award for his proactive efforts to meaningfully engage with legislators in order to share his personal UMN story and advocate for the University, including rallying support from fellow alumni.

Return to campus and cheer on the Golden Gophers as they take on the Louisiana-Lafayette Ragin' Cajuns for Homecoming. Discounted alumni tickets are available through the University of Minnesota Alumni Association (UMAA). The UMAA will also host Ski-U-Mania, the official Homecoming pre-game celebration.
