CSE Homecoming Celebration
Join your fellow College of Science and Engineering (CSE) alumni for one of the University of Minnesota’s longest-standing and most attended traditions—the Homecoming Parade! Before the parade officially kicks off at 6:30 p.m., head to Walter Library for light refreshments, a few family activities, and great conversations with old friends and new faces. As a token of our appreciation, all CSE alumni who attend will receive a free knit hat (while supplies last).
Why just watch the parade when you can be the star? We also invite you and your family to lace up your walking shoes and march with us in the procession. With CSE students historically comprising as much as 40% of the Minnesota Marching Band, you’ll be joining a strong tradition of representing the college in the parade! Whether you're proudly carrying your department’s banner, handing out goodies to future Gophers, or simply enjoying the excitement from a new perspective, it’s a unique way to engage with the celebration. NOTE: Participants will depart Walter Library as a group at approximately 5:30 p.m. to report to the staging area. Please be prepared for one mile of walking, including the parade itself (University Avenue between 12th Avenue SE and Walnut Street).
Prefer to watch instead? No problem! Grab a CSE pom pom, stake out a spot on University Avenue, and cheer us on from the sidelines.
We hope you join us as we come together with students, alumni, faculty, staff, and future Gophers to showcase our University of Minnesota spirit!
This event is complimentary, but pre-registration is required by Friday, Oct. 18, 2024.

Alumni Awards Affair
Each year, the Alumni Association honors award recipients from around the globe who are shaping their industries and strengthening the University community. Awards recognized include the Alumni Service Awards, the University of Minnesota Alumni Association Awards, and the Distinguished Leadership Award for Internationals. Hear directly from the Homecoming Grand Marshal Annie Griffiths and the 2024 award recipients about their remarkable contributions to their professions, communities, and our alma mater.
Three CSE alumni will be recognized at the event:
Denny Branca (1984 Electrical Engineering) will receive the Alumni Service Award.
Katie Heinemann (2015 Aerospace Engineering) will receive the On the Rise Alumni Leader Award.
Ann Sheldon (1988 Mechanical Engineering, 2004 Minnesota Executive Program) will receive the Alumni Service Award.

Return to campus and cheer on the Golden Gophers as they take on the Maryland Terrapins for Homecoming. Discounted alumni tickets are available through the University of Minnesota Alumni Association (UMAA). The UMAA will also host Ski-U-Mania, the official Homecoming pregame celebration.
