Application Procedures

Thank you for your interest in the HSTM graduate program!

If you plan to submit an application, the deadline for Fall 2024 admission is DECEMBER 1, 2023.

All application materials are submitted electronically through the online system.

Requested Materials:What to Submit:
Online ApplicationPlease complete all sections of the online application as requested. When you access the application system through choose.umn.edu, you'll need to select which track you're applying for (History of Medicine or History of Science and Technology). While both tracks are part of the same program, no graduate student completes the Program without a track. If you have questions about which track to select, contact the Director of Graduate Students, Jennifer Alexander or the Graduate Program Coordinator, Leah Harman.
Academic History/Transcripts

Unofficial transcripts or academic records should be uploaded directly to the online application. International students should also upload an English translation if the transcript is not in English. Please do not mail in paper copies of your transcripts; there is no need for official transcripts or academic records for initial review.

If you are admitted, the University will then request official copies of this material.

Visit the Graduate Admissions application instructions page for more important information about uploading your transcripts and credentials.

Test Scores

Although it is not required for admission, applicants may submit their Graduate Record Examination (GRE) scores. GRE and (if applicable) TOEFL scores.  Also please upload a copy of your (unofficial) score reports into Graduate Program Additional Material within the section entitled Materials. International students may upload one file that contains both their GRE and TOEFL score reports.

Visit the Graduate Admissions application page for more information about the GRE.

Visit the Graduate Admissions application page for more information about TOEFL, MELAB, and IELTS scores.

Recommendations
