About the University of Minnesota

The University of Minnesota (UMN) is located in the Twin Cities, with its Minneapolis campus divided into East Bank and West Bank by the Mississippi River.

Location & Lodging

SMART Center is located in Keller Hall on the East Bank campus of the University of Minnesota. Guests are encouraged to stay at the Graduate Hotel, which is one block away from Keller Hall.

Transportation

The University of Minnesota is served by the Minneapolis/St. Paul International airport (MSP). There is both shuttle and taxi service from the airport to hotels on or near campus. We suggest taking a taxi or the Light Rail from the MSP Airport to the East Bank station.

Taxi  and Car Rentals
To catch a taxi or shuttle at the airport, follow signs to the Ground Transportation Center one level below baggage claim.  Details on ground transportation arrangements are available on the MSP Airport web site.  A taxi directly to campus or The Graduate Hotel from the airport will take approximately 20-30 minutes, depending upon traffic.

Light Rail
Additionally, Light Rail Service is available from the airport to the UMN campus. Light Rail is a less expensive alternative to both taxi and shuttle service. The trip between the airport and the University via the Light Rail takes about 45 minutes. Plan to take the blue line from either Terminal 1 or 2 to the US Bank Stadium station. There you should make a transfer to the green line heading east to campus. Your final stop on the green line will be the East Bank station, just a half block from The Graduate Hotel.

Driving
If you choose to drive to campus, please note that there is no street parking outside of Keller Hall.  The Washington Ave Parking Ramp and the Church Street Parking Ramp are close to Keller Hall. Information on University of Minnesota parking can be found here.
