As I learned about other actuarial programs through my job and coworkers post-college, it really put into perspective how lucky I was to have had so many opportunities tailored for actuarial students available to me at the University of Minnesota. The Actuarial Career Fair, Actuary Club and the real-world case course called “Actuarial Mathematics in Practice” were highlights of the program for me. My main advice for actuarial students currently in the program would be to get involved! That means participating in the Fall Actuarial Career Fair, joining the Actuary Club or attending office hours to build relationships with your teachers.
