I was pleased to learn there was a quantitative finance graduate program available at the U of M - even better it was structured as a professional master program done only at night so I could continue to work full-time. My job today employs elements from my past career of engineering and my coursework in the MFM program. Understanding the mathematics behind simple instruments (swaps, options, and futures) comes into play a lot, but also with my mathematical background from the program, I have the ability to understand more complex strategies and exotics. The exposure to new programming languages was also central to my success at Allianz. The MFM definitely helped me transition from engineering and land in a great quant career path at Allianz Investment Management.
