Three innovation labs to suit your needs
The Clifford I. and Nancy C. Anderson Student Innovation Labs are available to you for use in research, coursework, projects, and more. There are three innovation labs, each with a different purpose and with a particular set of equipment. Note that there are different access rules to each lab and to the equipment. Student Design Lab
The Student Design Lab is a large open work space designed primarily for prototyping and has many resources, including 3D printers, laser cutters, hand tools, computers, whiteboards, workbenches, and more.
The Student Shop is half open work space and half wood shop with resources that include 3D printers, a 3D scanner, materials testing load frame, welding facilities, woodworking tools, and more.
Student Machine Shop
The Student Machine Shop is a fully functioning metal shop staffed by professional machinists with metalworking mills, lathes and grinders, milling machines, waterjet cutter, and more.
In addition to the Anderson Student Innovation Labs, you also have access to the Exceed Lab, which is a student-driven, project-oriented workspace with hand tools, electronics equipment, and work benches. Visit the Exceed Lab website.
About the innovation labs
Thanks to a generous donation from Clifford I. (BSB ’62) and Nancy C. Anderson and the vision of former CSE Dean Steven L. Crouch, the Clifford I. and Nancy C. Anderson Student Innovation Labs support research, coursework, student groups, hands-on projects, and entrepreneurial activities within CSE by providing state-of-the-art equipment and space.
