Recruit on campus
Recruit top STEM talent
The College of Science and Engineering (CSE) generally has two recruiting cycles each year—in the fall and spring semesters. The college’s career fairs kick off recruiting each semester. Companies often attend the career fair and follow up with a recruiting event and on-campus interviews.
Please review the College of Science and Engineering recruiting policies.

Post a position
By logging into Handshake, the University of Minnesota’s recruiting database, you can post full-time, part-time, internship, and co-op positions. You can also search student resumes, register for career events, and more. A well-written job posting helps your position get approved more quickly in Handshake. Organize an information session
An employer information session is a recruiting and branding event where an organization connects with students to share details about its company, workplace culture, and career opportunities. These sessions can take a variety of formats, including:
Presentation – A structured overview of the company and job openings
Panel – Employees or alumni share insights and answer questions
Q&A – An informal session focused on student-driven questions
The first step in planning your information session is to request an event in Handshake. After logging into Handshake, select “Create an Event” from the home screen and add the University of Minnesota as the host school and CSE Career Services as the hosting career center. You will be prompted to fill out the appropriate fields. One of the best ways to market your event to students is to ensure the information submitted in your event request description is as thorough as possible.
Career Services requires at least two weeks’ notice to help organize and promote an event.
Once the event is created, you will receive a formal confirmation via email with the location of your event and other important details. We recommend hosting information sessions in the evening hours, anytime between 4:30 and 8 p.m.

Hire a student for a co-op
A co-op is a two-semester work experience that earns academic credit. It gives employers the opportunity to work with students for a longer period and allows students to become more involved in in-depth projects. Learn more about co-op requirements and how to hire co-op students on the CSE Co-op Program website.

Host a tabling session
A tabling session is an informal, drop-in style event where a company sets up a table or booth in an engineering building to connect with students. Tabling costs $150 and can be purchased as an a la carte item.

Set up coffee chats
Hosting coffee chats is a great way to connect with students one-on-one or in small groups in an informal setting. Reserve a space or room on campus to engage with students, build your talent pipeline, increase brand awareness, or support early-stage recruiting. Coffee chats are customizable and can be purchased as an a la carte item.

Participate in on-campus interviews
CSE offers rooms on campus that can be reserved for in-person interviews.

You can choose between:

Pre-select schedules require at least three weeks’ notice.
