MINNEAPOLIS/ST. PAUL (03/02/2015) – A chess-playing robot, rockets, an 8-foot walking sculpture, 3-D printing, levitating objects, and a show with raptors are just a few things 1,700 middle school students from about 20 schools will see at this year’s University of Minnesota College of Science and Engineering (CSE) Expo.

This open-house-style event will feature more than 30 interactive exhibits designed and built by hundreds of University of Minnesota science and engineering students.

The event is aimed at sparking young people’s interest in STEM fields during a critical time between elementary and high school. The event is not open to the public.

The CSE Expo also provides numerous hands-on opportunities for hundreds of University science and engineering students who created exhibits and demonstrations that they can share with the next generation.

The event will conclude with a show by the University of Minnesota Raptor Center on the Carlson Family Stage in newly renovated Northrop.

The event is funded by a generous gift from Clifford I. and Nancy C. Anderson.
