Ambassador of Ireland meets with HSTM faculty

On Friday, August 11, Irish Ambassador to the United States, Geraldine Byrne Nason met with several members of the HSTM faculty, along with others from the University of Minnesota, at the Campus Club on the East Bank. Over the course of the afternoon, they discussed the connections between healthcare in Ireland and Minnesota, opportunities for increased exchange, and ways of using interdisciplinary approaches to expand academic conversations to the world around us, reaching more communities and diverse populations.

Ambassador Nason expressed her excitement about the opportunities to showcase connections to the Ireland she represents, an Ireland of increased global stature, social and political complexity, and cultural diversity. She added that the health humanities afford a unique way to position the study of Ireland in a broader intellectual and global framework.
