Gopher Motorsports

More formally known as the University of Minnesota’s Formula Society of Automotive Engineers (FSAE) team, Gopher Motorsports is a student-run group that designs, markets, and races a high-speed formula car, seeing through an entire engineering project from start to finish every year. The team is currently ranked third in the nation, and many of the parts for their race car are manufactured using equipment in Anderson Labs.

The Concrete Canoe

Every year, the University of Minnesota chapter of the American Society of Civil Engineers takes part in the national concrete canoe competition, which tests design, durability, creativity, stamina, and other attributes to determine which college can produce the best vessel. The students of UMN ASCE uses some of the machines in Anderson Labs to create their concrete powerhouse.
