Infrastructure as Code Anti-Patterns

Abstract

Infrastructure as code is a key practice which allows us to build infrastructure which powers modern applications. Technology companies provide tools that organizations can use to build infrastructure, but they rarely describe what patterns to follow when building maintainable, scalable, and reliable infrastructure. Join me as I share my decade-long journey of uncovering infrastructure as code anti-patterns in companies across the Twin Cities.

Biography

Jason is a technology leader, educator, and entrepreneur. He is currently Director of Cloud Operations at Civix, a leading GovTech company providing services which are essential to the health of our democracy. Jason serves as an adjunct faculty member at the University of St. Thomas where he has taught DevOps and cloud computing practices to hundreds of students in their Graduate School of Engineering. Earlier in his career, he co-founded one of the largest data center providers in the Midwest which was successfully acquired by a Fortune 500 telecommunications company. Jason received a BS from the University of Minnesota and an MS in Software Engineering from the University of St. Thomas.
