Many CSE student group activities and events depend on corporate sponsorship and private support. Learn how you can help.
Mentor senior design projects
Provide a research idea and mentor a senior student design project in the mechanical, electrical, biomedical, or aerospace engineering departments. Contact the department and ask for the coordinating faculty member. Contact departments.
Participate in graduate projects
Your corporation can develop a working prototype of a new product and a business plan by collaborating with a team of graduate students and faculty. You provide sponsorship and launch the product. This program is a joint venture between the College of Science and Engineering, the College of Design, the Carlson School of Management, and sponsoring companies. Offer a co-op
The CSE Co-op Program is a collaboration between industry and the University to deliver high quality, practical engineering education. Students work for two terms (eight to nine months) while earning academic credit. Learn more about the CSE Co-op Program.
Participate in the CSE Mentor Program
Industry professionals are matched one-on-one with students for a year-long mentoring relationship. Participate in the program or recruit University of Minnesota alumni within your organization to connect with current students. Provide internships
An internship is a short-term position providing a student with hands-on experience and career insight. It provides corporations with opportunities to connect with students who may become future employees. Contact CSE Career Services at [email protected] or 612-624-4090. Learn about internships.
Volunteer in CSE Career Services
Professionals from all industries are a valuable resource to students. Some examples include:
- Offer students feedback on their resumes or participate in our annual “Resume Marathon” helping students prepare for career fairs.
- Facilitate 45-minute practice interviews for current students. Practice interview days are offered every semester and volunteers can choose to do a half-day or full day.
- Plan a company site tour and presentation.
- Participate on a panel to talk about your career, your industry, or to offer general career advice.

Connect with student organizations
With more than 75 undergraduate and graduate student organizations, your company can connect with students by providing speakers for club meetings, hosting meetings, or sponsoring events. Many organizations host employer days to increase name recognition of their company, to provide general recruiting information to students, and to network with talented science and engineering students.
