Master of Financial Mathematics - Class of 2013 - VP UMN Alumni Group - Shanghai

The MFM at Minnesota gave me a smooth transition from engineering into the finance industry.   I knew very little about economics and finance. But the program laid out a solid foundation and gave me the tools to land in a great firm in Shanghai where I have developed expertise in fixed income trading.  Another great thing is the cost/benefit of this MFM. You receive a very high value graduate degree in financial mathematics at a comparatively low cost. Minnesota’s MFM tuition cost is 50% less than many of the east and west coast “blue chip” MFM brands. Yet it also enjoys very good rankings among the 80+ programs in North America; and it is also housed in a prestigious Mathematics department ranked 9th in the US for applied mathematics.  The cost of living can’t be beat when you compare it to programs in other major urban areas of the US.
