Frontiers of GenAI & Science

The fourth workshop in our Minnesota AI for Science SeriesFrontiers of GenAI & Science, will be held at the McNamara Alumni Center on August 4–5, 2026. The workshop will bring together researchers from academia, industry, government, and national laboratories to explore how generative AI can accelerate scientific discovery and how scientific challenges can help drive the next generation of AI advances.

Building on themes explored in previous workshops, the program will examine the methodological foundations needed to realize the full potential of generative AI in science and engineering. Through invited talks and panel discussions, participants will help identify emerging opportunities, key research challenges, and future directions for AI-enabled discovery across a range of domains, including health, agriculture, materials science, and physics.

A central theme of the workshop is that scientific discovery can serve not only as a beneficiary of AI advances, but also as a powerful driver of future AI innovation. By bringing together experts from multiple disciplines and sectors, the workshop aims to help define a research agenda for the next frontier of AI in science and engineering.

Registration will open in late June or early July, 2026. Visit the workshop website for additional information and updates.
