Abstract

Semiconductor technology is the backbone that provides all computation power to enable the recent AI (Artificial Intelligence) boom. During the 40 years of semiconductor industry development, mathematical methods including numerical simulation, statistical analysis, differential equation techniques and routing optimization algorithms have been heavily involved in domains of process development, transistor design, circuit simulation and defect reduction.
In this talk, a brief overview of semiconductor technology and the mathematical principle behind will be introduced. I will also discuss applied mathematics applications in this industry, with focus on Process Variation, Compact Modeling, CAD (Computer Aided Design) Simulation, and Algorithms for Yield Improvement.
