Industrial Postdoctoral Fellowships
The IMA offers up to three two-year Industrial Postdoctoral Fellowships for recent Ph.D. scholars each year. These fellowships are designed to prepare the fellows for research careers in industry or those involving industrial interaction in academia.
The industrial postdoc devotes half of their time to an industry project and half to their own research. Industrial postdocs receive a great deal of guidance as well as ample opportunities for collaboration with their industry mentor. These positions are funded jointly by the IMA and an industrial partner. Postdoctoral fellows are appointed for 12 months, receive an annual salary with full health care benefits, and a travel allowance.
Goals
Fellows conduct research and are given the opportunity to network and collaborate with an industry member. About half of the program’s participants go on to careers in industry or government labs, with the rest pursuing careers in academia.
