Abstract
Thanks to its copious history of record keeping, discrete nature, and early adoptions of new technology, baseball has a long tradition of being a favorite toy domain for mathematicians and statisticians. In this talk, we will cover the rapidly changing breadth of problems being tackled in this space and how the topics and methods of research have changed with the data explosion. Select examples will illustrate concrete use cases and challenges leveraging the latest data and tools in a professional baseball setting.
