Abstract

In this talk I’ll discuss my career journey, from tenure track professor to data scientist in the renewable energy sector. Drawing on my experience changing careers, I will share what led to my decision to change careers, how I prepared for and got a new job, and my early days adjusting to an industry job. I will focus on what tools and skills have helped me be successful in my new career. Finally, I will describe some of the problems I’ve worked on as a Data Scientist at NextEra Analytics and how my day to day compares to academia.
