Parenting and Lactation Resources
Learn about the ways you can be supported when you become a parent while working at ME.
GENERAL RESOURCES
- Title IX/Equal Opportunity Office — You are entitled to accommodations to support your lactation/postpartum journey, as defined by Title IX: "The University must provide reasonable accommodations to an individual who requests accommodations relating to a physical or mental condition related to, affected by, or arising out of their own pregnancy, birth of a child, lactation, or a related medical condition, so long as the accommodations would not cause an undue hardship for the University."
- Lactation Information — In addition to accommodating breaks for lactation as needed, the University must make reasonable efforts to provide a clean, private, and secure space for lactation that 1) is located within a five-minute walk of the lactating individual’s place of work or study; 2) shielded from view and free from intrusion; 3) contains an electrical outlet, table, and a chair; and 4) is near a sink and space for storing milk.
