Lavoine previously studied Fundamental Physics at University Paris Saclay. He is currently a Ph.D student in Charles Fabry laboratory at Institut d'Optique, under the supervision of Thomas Bourdel. Lavoine is working on the effect of a force on Anderson localisation by launching a noninteracting Bose-Einstein condensate in a 1D disordered potential induced by a far-off-resonance laser speckle, while controlling a bias force.
