Prof. Yuh-Renn Wu received the Bachelor degree in Physics from National Taiwan University in 1998. He received his Master degree in Graduate Institute of Communication Engineering, National Taiwan University in 2000. He received the Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering and Computer science, University of Michigan, Ann Arbor in 2006. He joined the Graduate Institute of Photonics and Optoelectronic and Department of Electrical Engineering in National Taiwan University as an assistant professor in 2007. He was promoted as a full professor in 2016. Prof. Yuh-Renn Wu’s research area is focusing on the analysis and characterization of optical and semiconductor devices.
His focus area is developing the numerical simulation tools for device modeling, including GaN HFETs, Nitride based LEDs, Solar cells, thermoelectric material, and organic light emitting diodes. He has developed multi-dimensional Poisson, drift-diffusion, Schrodinger, and thermal equation solver. He also developed Monte Carlo Ray tracing techniques and FD-TD based optical wave solver to model the light extraction, Solar cell or photo-diode related studies. Prof. Yuh-Renn Wu was awarded Ta-You Wu Memorial Award by Ministry of Science and Technology.
