Moiré-of-moiré Superlattice

MoM-3

By transferring 2D materials on top of each other with twist-angle, the atomic and electronic reconstruction of the resulting moiré superlattice can give rise to novel material properties, including correlated electronic states and superconductivity. On top of twisted bilayer systems, we transfer an additional layer of 2D material with a consecutive twist angle. The two coexisting moiré superlattices give rise to a higher-order moiré-of-moiré superlattice, with a plethora of new length scales and related novel quantum phenomena, including inter-moire Hofstader butterfly, inter-moiré-enhanced Berry curvature, moiré-of-moire correlated electronic states, and signature of superconductivity at extremely low carrier density.

Stability Diagram of Layer-polarized Quantum Hall States in Twisted Trilayer Graphene

The stability diagram of layer-polarized quantum Hall states in twisted trilayer graphene (tTLG) is measured to quantitatively characterize the interlayer screening and charge distribution in tTLG with the implication of strong inter-atomic-layer Coulomb coupling.
