Thad Levine seminar (Aris Series)
Biography
Thad Levine is a veteran baseball executive and strategic leader with more than two decades of experience across Major League Baseball and the business world. He currently serves as Special Advisor, Baseball Operations for the Milwaukee Brewers, advising President of Baseball Operations Matt Arnold on executive decisions while mentoring current and emerging Baseball Operations leaders.
Previously, Levine spent eight seasons as General Manager and Executive Vice President of the Minnesota Twins, where he led Baseball Operations to four playoff appearances, including three American League Central titles. Before joining the Twins, he spent 11 years with the Texas Rangers, serving as Assistant General Manager and General Manager Jon Daniels’ chief lieutenant during one of the most successful periods in franchise history, including back-to-back World Series appearances in 2010 and 2011. Levine began his baseball career with the Colorado Rockies, serving as Senior Director of Baseball Operations from 1999 to 2005.
In 2025, Levine founded and began hosting Rosters to Rings, a podcast featuring General Managers from across professional sports who share behind-the-scenes perspectives on the decisions, strategies and challenges involved in building opening-day rosters and pursuing championships.
Prior to his baseball career, Levine held marketing roles with Coca-Cola, The Rockport Company and Reebok. He earned an MBA from UCLA Anderson School of Business in 1999 and a BA in English from Haverford College in 1994.
The Aris Lecture Series began in 1964. The series arose from the scholarship of Rutherford Aris, who was interested in both chemical engineering and paleography. Because of these diverse interests, Professor Aris was concerned by the split between different parts of human knowledge, enforced by the organization of colleges and departments at universities. Because he felt that different disciplines do not talk to each other sufficiently, he hoped that this lecture series would reach a broad audience, and so stimulate more discussion.
