Announcing a New Post-baccalaureate Certificate in Data Science for CEMS
MINNEAPOLIS / ST. PAUL (04/07/2026) — The Department of Chemical Engineering and Materials Science is pleased to announce a new Post-baccalaureate Certificate in Data Science for Chemical and Materials Engineering. The program is directed by Professor Prodromos Daoutidis.
This certificate addresses a growing need to upskill industry scientists and engineers in AI and data science. While our M.S. in Data Science for Chemical Engineering and Materials Science (MSDS CEMS) requires a significant investment of time, this certificate offers a more accessible pathway for professionals seeking foundational knowledge in data science tools and their applications in chemical and materials engineering.
The program also serves as a continuing education option for recent graduates in CEMS and related disciplines, as well as for current Ph.D. students who are unable to complete the full MSDS CEMS curriculum.
