CEMS Students Win National Nanotechnology Imaging Contest

Two CEMS PhD students have been recognized as winners in this year’s Plenty of Beauty at the Bottom scientific imaging contest, organized by the National Nanotechnology Coordinated Infrastructure (NNCI). The annual contest celebrates the creativity and beauty of the micro and nanoscale in honor of National Nanotechnology Day on October 9.

Sadikshya Pandey, a PhD student advised by Professor David Poerschke, won the “Most Unique Capability” category for her image Meteor Shower in a Nanoworld, captured using a Thermo Apreo at the Minnesota Nano Center (MINIC).

An award winning research image

Rishi Raj, a PhD student in Professor Andre Mkhoyan’s group, received the “Most Whimsical” award for his image Nano – Au (Gold) Fish, taken with a ThermoFisher Talos F200X at MINIC.

Another award winning photo that looks like a fish.

The contest features images created at NNCI sites nationwide and highlights the intersection of science and art in nanoscale research.

Congratulations to Sadikshya and Rishi on this national recognition!
