Quantitative Ecology: My career in applied mathematics with the USGS

Industrial Problems Seminar

Richard Erickson (U.S. Geological Survey)

Abstract

Conservation sciences increasingly use applied mathematics. In this seminar, Dr. Erickson from the USGS will describe how he applies mathematics to help natural resource managers. Specifically, he will talk about applying integral projection models to invasive carp management, occupancy models to environmental DNA data, and climate matching to invasive species horizon scanning. He will also describe his career experience as a federal research scientist.
