Inaugural University of Michigan Prize Goes to Peter Bruggeman

ME Professor Peter Bruggeman was awarded the University of Michigan Prize for Excellence in Plasma Science and Engineering "for contributions to the understanding of non-thermal plasma interactions with solids, liquids, and living matter, scientific leadership, and advancement of plasma-based technologies enabling applications in plasma-biology, chemical conversion, and water treatment.” The prize was established by the Michigan Institute for Plasma Science and Engineering (MIPSE) and the University of Michigan College of Engineering

Bruggeman is an internationally recognized expert in low temperature plasmas, developing breakthrough techniques that advanced healthcare, environmental sustainability, and green manufacturing. He is the first winner of the new prize, which was created to recognize individuals whose plasma research demonstrates broad societal benefits.
