UMN ME Students Receive 2 of 5 Student Awards at International Conference on Plasma Science

ME PhD student Gaurav Nayak and visiting scholar Jianan Wang received two of the available five student awards at the 47th IEEE International Conference on Plasma Sciences. Both students are part of Professor Peter Bruggeman's research group.

Gaurav presented his exciting research on the effective inactivation of airborne viruses by plasmas, showing that plasma technology is a new tool able to limit airborne virus transmission. Jianan reported the first ever reactive species density measurements in plasma in liquids that are believed to be responsible for the effective decomposition of pollutants in water.

Both students attended a virtual awards ceremony, pictured below.
