Since 2016, CBIA Curator Amanda Wick has presented on a variety of topics as part of the The University of Minnesota Libraries’ Department of Archives and Special Collections (ASC) First Fridays Lecture series - including Cybernetics and AI, Control Data Corporation's history of corporate social responsibility, and human-tech integration. Thanks to the work of Kate Dietrick, Archivist for the Upper Midwest Jewish Archives, ASC has added a First Friday Series page to the UMN Libraries website where individuals can learn more about the Series and access past lectures on the U Libraries YouTube channel.

We hope you will enjoy these presentations and join us in person for the 2025-26 Series. If you would like to be added to our mailing list to receive updates, please email CBI.

About

First Fridays is an annual lecture series showcasing collections from various units across Archives and Special Collections. The series runs each academic year from October to May (skipping January). Each event takes place in Elmer L. Andersen Library, Room 120, and presentations begin at noon. A tour of the archival caverns takes place after the event concludes.
