[Hired] Now Hiring: Project Manager
The College of Science & Engineering is seeking a first-level Project Manager responsible for managing projects from project intake and business analysis to project completion or operationalizing a process. Skilled in exceptional customer service, this position works with multiple workgroups and departments to help translate the needs of the users to technical language, and vice versa.
Responsibilities
Project Management 50%
- Serve as project manager for small to medium-sized projects for projects within and spanning CSE-IT workgroups
- Work with stakeholders to define and document project goals, outputs, tasks, and timelines
- Manage conflicts, issues, and changes in order to ensure that stakeholders and the implementation teams remain in agreement on the solution scope.
- Serve as a subject matter expert for CSE-IT's Asana instance and best practices
- Serve on the Service Management Office / Project Management Office working group
Knowledge Management 20%
- Serve as a knowledge management expert for CSE-IT.
- Serve as a member of CSE-IT’s Knowledge Management group.
- Maintain or create internal and external-facing documentation for procedures and processes, including but not limited to KB articles, Incident Models, and self-help guides.
- Collaborate with subject matter experts to ensure knowledge is accurate and current
- Serve as a subject matter expert for CSE-IT's use of the TeamDynamix software platform
Business Analysis and Process Improvement 20%
- Participate in the assessment of proposed solutions to determine which solution best fits the business need, identify gaps and shortcomings in solutions, and determine necessary workarounds or changes to the solution.
- Work with clients to map current and future business processes and align technology solutions with business strategies.
- Identify themes and evaluate patterns in order to make recommendations for process improvement.
Collaboration & Professional Development 10%
- Participate in related CSE and University professional groups and/or Communities of Practice to ensure the needs and interests of the College are represented.
- Contribute to, understand, and carry out the IT@UMN vision and strategy.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- BA/BS degree or a combination of related education and work experience to equal at least four years
- Ability and motivation to collaborate effectively with a team.
- Strong commitment to delivering excellent customer service.
- Experience communicating with diverse groups of people and translating technical issues and trends to non-technical audiences.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working as part of a Scrum Development Team.
- Experience with ITIL or ITIL certification.
- Project management experience
- Experience working in Asana or other project management software
- Experience working in TeamDynamix
- Working knowledge of requirements definition techniques.
- Project management experience or coursework
- Experience with applying process improvement concepts and business analysis techniques.
