2026 Larkin Award
The Anatoly Larkin Award in Theoretical Physics
Award Recipients
The William I. Fine Theoretical Physics Institute (FTPI) at the University of Minnesota is proud to announce the recipients of the 2026 Larkin Award in Theoretical Physics
2026 Larkin Senior Researcher Award
This year's award is being split between:
Eduardo Fradkin
University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign
Professor Fradkin is being awarded the Larkin Senior Researcher Award for his foundational contributions to lattice gauge theory and topological quantum matter, including fermionic Chern Simons theory of fractional quantum Hall phases.
and
Andrew Millis
Columbia University and the Flatiron Institute
Professor Millis is being awarded the Larkin Senior Researcher Award for his groundbreaking theoretical discoveries in physics of correlated electron materials.
2026 Larkin Junior Researcher Award
This year's award is being split between:
Xie Chen
Caltech
Professor Chen is being awarded the Larkin Junior Researcher Award for her exceptional contributions bridging quantum matter and quantum information, elucidating interplay between symmetry, geometry, and topology in quantum matter.
and
Eslam Khalaf
Harvard University
Professor Khalaf is being awarded the Larkin Junior Researcher Award for his seminal contributions to the physics of magic-angle graphene, particularly of alternating relative twist angle multilayers.
