2026 Larkin Awards announced

The William I. Fine Theoretical Physics Institute at the University of Minnesota is proud to announce the recipients of the 2026 Larkin Awards in Theoretical Physics.

The 2026 Larkin Award for senior researcher is split between:

Eduardo Fradkin
UIUC
"For his foundational contributions to lattice gauge theory and topological quantum matter, including fermionic Chern Simons theory of fractional quantum Hall phases"

and

Andrew Millis
Columbia and The Flatiron Institute
“For his groundbreaking theoretical discoveries in physics of correlated electron materials”.

The 2026 Larkin Award for junior researcher is split between:

Xie Chen
Caltech
"For her exceptional contributions bridging quantum matter and quantum information, elucidating interplay between symmetry, geometry, and topology in quantum matter".

and

Eslam Khalaf
Harvard
"For his seminal contributions to the physics of magic-angle graphene, particularly of alternating relative twist angle multilayers.''
