Spring 2024 Entrance Exam Information
We are planning to hold two rounds of entrance exam tests in Rochester this year. All exams are in-person, on the UMR campus.
Round 1 is scheduled for Saturday, February 15th, at 9:00am and 10:30am
Round 2 is scheduled for Saturday, April 12th, at 9:00am and 10:30am
Students who test in February can retest in April if they are not admitted after Round 1. There is no opportunity to retest after Round 2. Do not register for both rounds at this time. Students who re-test after Round 1 will be provided with a registration link at that time after Round 1 results are available. If you register for both rounds at this time, your registration may be cancelled with no refund.
Registration for each exam closes at noon on the preceding Wednesday (2/12/25 or 4/9/25).
Further information:
As of Fall 2022, the University has lifted most of its COVID-19 restrictions, but please be aware that changes may occur. If there is a surge in cases, for example, it's possible that adults and students could be required to wear masks during testing sessions.
Everybody who signs up for the entrance exam will have access to a University website with that information and online practice problems. We will send out access to this website approximately two weeks prior to the exam.
If your student qualifies for UMTYMP Algebra this year but you are not comfortable sending them to class, you can defer admission for a year. A student must start UMTYMP Algebra by 8th grade.
Please contact Professor Bright (brigh042@r.umn.edu) if you have questions about the Rochester site, COVID policies during the Rochester exam. You can also check the Rochester UMTYMP page, which has links in the UMTYMP Admission section for Town Hall informational meetings.
Registration Instructions
To access the registration system, click the appropriate button below and follow the on-screen directions. Please make sure to register using an account for the parent/guardian; as part of the registration process you will be asked for information about the student. Because the parent/guardian is registering and paying the fee, the email receipt will have their name, and not the student's name. This is normal, and we will use the student's name for the exam itself.
Please note: If you are registering more than one student, you will need to use a different account (and different email address) for each.
