GOPHER Program Passes Rocketry Milestone
The University of Minnesota's Rocket Team recently passed a milestone in its Grand Opening Project to Help Educate Rocketeers (GOPHER) Program after completing over 80 Level 1 high-power rocketry launches. Many students also earned their Level 1 Certification, allowing them to fly high-power rockets with a total installed impulse up to 640 newton-seconds.
The GOPHER Program is a new member orientation program that positions current Rocket Team members as mentors to assist students in building and certifying a Level 1 high-power rocket. The program lasts four weeks and teaches members the basics of high-power rocketry. Additionally, it gives the chance for new members to get involved and meet other members on the team. At the end of the program, members gather and get to see their rockets launch.
