Welcome AEM Students!

Welcome to the Aerospace Engineering & Mechanics department and to a bright new year ahead! We know this is a busy and exciting period in your lives, and we would like to make the transition a little easier with some helpful tips.

  1. Keep an eye out for emails from the department!
We understand that you probably receive hundreds of emails in a day, but the department will send you important emails regarding holds, classes, graduations, etc. Often times, they will be labeled “IMPORTANT” or “URGENT”.

  2. Use the Student Records System (SRS).
Need to get into a class but can’t for some reason?  Apply for a permission number through the SRS. Want to check your AEM course grade? See it in the SRS. Have a hold and need to submit a one-year plan? Submit it through the SRS.

There are many other applications of the SRS so make sure to check it out (make sure you’re logged into your MyU to get into SRS).

  3. Need access to a lab?
Drop by 107 Akerman Hall to fill out a room access form. You may also need to complete training with Professor Yohannes Ketema and Kale Hedstrom.

  4. Be involved!
AEM has many student group projects, research groups, and other projects to join.

All faculty in the AEM Department have research programs. There are often opportunities for undergraduates to contribute to these programs but you won't know until you ask. See what research interests you and contact the faculty member to discuss the possibilities.
