The Bachelor of Aerospace Engineering and Mechanics (BAEM) Program at the University of Minnesota produces graduates who are prepared to enter and sustain the practice of aerospace engineering and related fields, or to pursue advanced studies.

The AEM office is open from 8:00am-4:00pm Monday-Friday. A U Card is required to access the building. Students can also schedule a Zoom meeting with our office by emailing aem-dept@umn.edu with what specifically you would like to talk about. 

Why UMN AEM?

We believe in developing well-rounded engineers -- people who can identify a problem, understand all potential to approaches, and then develop innovative yet practical solutions. Our graduates are grounded in engineering principles that equip them for success in a wide array of industries (e.g., aerospace, of course, but also medical devices, computer technology, industrial equipment, and consumer goods). Alternatively, BAEM graduates are well positioned to successfully pursue M.S. and Ph.D. graduate degrees.

Throughout your undergraduate studies, you'll have ample opportunity to develop and test your engineering skills on real-world research projects and problems.

UMN AEM faculty- all recognized leaders in the aerospace and mechanics fields- are omnipresent in the classroom and the lab. Our full-time faculty teach courses throughout the year and at all levels of study.

Although the UMN is a big school, you won't feel like a number at AEM. We are a small, close-knit department, personally committed to every student's success.

The BAEM program is currently rated 4th in the nation by the Princeton Review's Gourman Report on Undergraduate Programs.
