Admission to ECE Programs
All students interested in our programs should explore the official University of Minnesota Admissions website. In addition, if you are a prospective international transfer student keen on pursuing a degree in our department we recommend that you review information on the CSE international transfer page.
Prospective students interested in our undergraduate degrees are encouraged to check the College of Science and Engineering Future Student page or the CSE transfer admissions page for more information.
Are you a first year student?
Be sure to visit CSE’s Future First-Year Student page. First-year college students are admitted to the College of Science and Engineering as intended majors and generally become official in their chosen major after the first semester of their sophomore year. This allows students flexibility, so they can be confident they are making the right choice. For more information on how all the CSE majors work and share many common courses, visit CSE’s Four-year plan page.
Transferring from another school?
Be sure to visit CSE’s Transfer Admissions page. Transfer students are admitted to CSE as intended majors or as official majors depending on their transfer coursework. Generally all transfer students become official majors after 1-2 semesters. Consult your current institution about requirements for transferring, but do not hesitate to reach out to our Undergraduate Advising Office if you have questions.
Transferring from within the University of Minnesota?
Be sure to visit CSE’s Internal Transfer page. Inter-college transfers are welcome to join our program. You just need to complete some specific coursework before applying. Do not hesitate to reach out to our Undergraduate Advising Office if you have questions.
