Mihailo Jovanovic is a professor in the Ming Hsieh Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering and the founding director of the Center for Systems and Control at the University of Southern California. From 2004 to 2017, he was a faculty member at the University of Minnesota and has held visiting positions at Stanford University, the Simons Institute, the Institute for Mathematics and its Applications, and the University of Belgrade. His research focuses on large-scale and distributed optimization, design of optimization algorithms and controller architectures, control of networked systems, and modeling and control of fluid flows. He received an NSF CAREER Award, the IEEE Control Systems Society George S. Axelby Outstanding Paper Award, and the UC Santa Barbara Distinguished Alumnus Award. He is a Fellow of the American Physical Society (APS) and the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE).
