My primary research interests are in modeling, analysis, design, and control of renewable electric energy systems. From a modeling and analysis perspective, the main emphasis is on circuit- and system-level reliability assessment of photovoltaic (PV) and wind energy conversion systems. At the circuit level, this includes developing tools to maximize power-converter reliability; at the system level, this involves quantifying the impact of integrating renewable resources on power-system reliability. With regard to design and control, I am interested in distributed power converters for modular PV energy systems. A circuits-to-systems approach is essential to ensure the cost effectiveness, reliability, and security of next-generation renewable electric energy systems.
