Academic Advising

The Robert E. Rice ECE Student Services Center in 3-166 Keller Hall supports students in both majors, electrical engineering and computer engineering, as they journey through the undergraduate curriculum. Our advising team is led by Professor James Leger (Director of Undergraduate Studies), and staff advisor Kimberly Scott.

For information on our advising model, services, student academic resources, and to make an appointment, check the ECE Undergraduate Matrix.

If you are a freshman or sophomore in the College of Science and Engineering who has yet to start in the electrical engineering or computer engineering, there are excellent advising and support resources. CSE academic advisors will help you navigate course selection, requirements, applying for majors, and other resources that support your wellbeing and success as a student at the University.

After your acceptance into a major, department advisors Kimberly Scott and Professor James Leger will be your main contact for academic planning. While your CSE academic advisor will continue to provide information and support as needed, our department advising team will help you make major course choices that align with your interests, point you to research, internship and other career opportunities, guide you on study abroad programs, course registration, and other issues that relate to your success as an ECE student.

Upper division students are required to meet with the undergraduate academic advisor prior to registration each term.  This ensures that you stay on track for graduation and are planning the appropriate steps to meet your career or graduate school goals.  In addition, if you are a second semester junior and first semester senior, you will meet with a Faculty Mentor to plan technical elective coursework that suit your future career path, and help you gain further information about research, career pathways, and graduate school options.

Are you an upper division student trying to schedule an advising appointments? Then check the ECE Undergraduate matrix.
