ME Graduate Students Impress at 3MT Competition

Mechanical Engineering’s Three Minute Thesis Competition 2020 was a great success. Twelve graduate students competed against time and each other for prestige and prizes. It was held virtually via Zoom, and had over 100 people in attendance. There were winners in three categories: 1st place - Daniel Thomas, 2nd place -Jeff Bies, and People's Choice - Adithan Kannan.

NSF Awards $26M for New Engineering Research Center, Led by ME Professor John Bischof

The National Science Foundation awarded the University of Minnesota Institute for Engineering in Medicine, directed by ME Professor John Bischof, $26 million over five years to create the Engineering Research Center (ERC) for Advanced Technologies for the Preservation of Biological Systems (ATP-Bio). The center aims to stop biological time by designing methods to cryogenically cool, hold and re-warm living materials without harm, extending our ability to bank and transport them.
