CloudIA

About

CloudIA (Cloud of Inertial Aerosol) is a facility designed and built at the St. Anthony Falls Laboratory, featuring 256 individually controlled jets that generate about one cubic meter of air turbulence. Researchers designed this facility to replicate, in a well-controlled environment, the conditions found in the atmosphere, in order to study the transport of airborne particles and droplets. Liquid or solid-micro-particles can be injected into CloudIA at adjustable rates and tracked by multiple high speed cameras synchronized with a high-repetition laser. The walls are fully transparent to allow unobstructed view
