WiPA receives APS Grant

The Women in Physics and Astronomy (WiPA)  group at the School has received a grant from the American Physical Society (APS) to expand their programs and outreach. The group requested a grant in order to sponsor a colloquium speaker and to facilitate visits of WiPA in middle schools and high schools. Jenna Freedberg, WiPA Coordinator, said that the grant will allow them to do up to 14 in-school visits in the community.

WiPA continues to hold social gatherings, including online events when the pandemic has required it.  The group has sponsored a monthly public lecture series  that has drawn an online audience from 37 institutions across 23 states, and holds networking events with alumni and women in physics groups at other universities.
