PhD Candidate Maria Garcia-Serrana awarded inaugural Heinz G. Stefan Fellowship

Maria Garcia-Serrana. PhD Candidate in the Department of Civil, Environmental, and Geo-Engineering and student at the St. Anthony Falls Laboratory, was awarded the inaugural Heinz G. Stefan Fellowship during a special SAFL seminar on April 5th, 2016. The Heinz G. Stefan Fellowship is given to a University of Minnesota student pursuing graduate studies in water resources engineering who is studying at the St. Anthony Falls Laboratory.  Special consideration is given to students involved in environmental hydraulics.

Maria received a monetary award to support her research, a certificate, and recognition on the SAFL website and in future presentations of the award. She is advised by Professor John Gulliver.

Several friends and alumni attended the ceremony held in the SAFL auditorium, and the award presentation was followed by a Distinguished Lecture given by Dr. Dennis Ford, President and Principal of FTN Associates, as well as Dr. Stefan's first graduate student.
