Dr. Robert Crane seminar

Dr. Robert Crane, Process Innovation & Scale-Up Manager at ExxonMobil, will deliver a department seminar, "Technology Solutions for Energy Transition" on Tuesday, October 31 at 1:25 p.m. in room B75 Amundson Hall.

Abstract:
Meeting the world's ambitions for economic expansion and lower emissions requires the advancement and deployment of a broad set of technologies at scale. This presentation will explore a global outlook to 2050, including comparison of current trajectories to 2 degrees Celsius and net zero scenarios, with a focus on the solutions required. The energy transition requires a wide range of technology solutions, many of which still need to be developed and scaled. For any given solution, multiple pathways are needed in order to take advantage of geographically varied resources. Disciplines such as chemical engineering and materials science are critical to to reducing emissions while enabling continued expansion of the global economy.
