Professor Matthew Neurock awarded the Navy Impact Influencer Award

Professor Matt Neurock has been awarded the Navy Impact Influencer Award, which was presented to him before thermodynamics class by Lieutenant Tyler Kirsch. The award is presented to educators, mentors, and coaches across the nation who personify the Navy’s core values of Honor, Courage, and Commitment. Professor Neurock was nominated by one of his students, Jack Terry who was selected to be a future submarine officer in the US Navy.

The award writeup stated: Former President of the United States and US Naval Officer John F. Kennedy once said, “Leadership and learning are indispensable to one another.” Our education system is filled with educators and counselors who personify characteristics of exceptional leaders. Trust, passion, dedication & knowledge are just some of the values needed to make a connection with students. It is the push you provide for them to believe in themselves that leaves an everlasting influence on their future successes. The leadership, mentorship and guidance you provide every day to your students is reflected in Jack Terry’s selection and future success as a Navy Submarine Officer. Jack stated, “He did absolutely everything to ensure our success: holding extra office hours, explaining concepts and the material in more detail, and actively giving students single attention to ensure the success of every student.” It is this focused time and effort that not only gives your student a high level of understanding of advanced concepts but also demonstrates the qualities of servant leadership that they can strive to match for the rest of their lives. Without your unwavering support and dedication to providing the highest quality education, this would not have been possible. Thank you for helping to build the foundation of the future Naval Nuclear Power Program and a leader in the world’s strongest Navy.

Congratulations Professor Neurock, and thank you for supporting our students!
