Professor Nate Mara named TMS 2023 Brimacombe Medalist
Professor Nate Mara is among seven recipients honored as The Minerals, Metals & Materials Society (TMS) 2023 Brimacombe Medalists. This mid-career award recognizes individuals with sustained excellence and achievement in business, technology, education, public policy, or science related to materials science and engineering and with a record of continuing service to the profession.
Mara is being honored for excellence in serving the TMS community and scientific advancements in nanomechanical behavior including the link between interfaces and defects. He said, "I am grateful that TMS continues to provide me with opportunities to learn from experts in my field, and has been instrumental in progressing from University student to National Lab staff member to University Professor. It is humbling to accept this award and be counted amongst past and present recipients that I consider to be the best of the best. I look forward to continuing to contribute to the ongoing success of the Society and our membership!"
The honorees will be given a certificate and lapel pin.
