Website Support / Consulting
Provides website guidance, consulting, instruction, and triage, for standard University web platforms and tools including Drupal Lite and Google Sites. Coordinates with appropriate University resources (e.g. OIT) to troubleshoot issues. Provides best practices and support for accessibility remediation. Provides consultation for instructional and research website needs that cannot be met by these platforms.
What's Included
- Recommendations for matching the right solution to meet your needs.
- Instructional, research group, and tudent group website consultations.
- Consulting / guidance / oversight for other groups or individuals in the college that write software/code/setup websites to ensure best practices
- Basic instructions for creating and editing Google Sites.
- Assistance requesting new Drupal Lite sites through the Office of Information Technology.
- Advice on University policies and standards including digital accessibility and branding.
- Monthly accessibility scan results provided to site owners
What's Not Included
- All support relating to CSE unit websites and Enterprise Drupal is available via our Collegiate Website Work service.
- Significant website customization or assistance is available via CSE-IT’s Custom Solutions Development and Custom Solutions Maintenance services.
What You Need to Do
- For new websites, request a Drupal Lite site or create a Google Site.
- For existing websites, email [email protected] to report issues or request assistance.
- For research group or faculty websites, it is strongly recommended to use Drupal Lite or Google Sites [see comparison]. If your site requires features that cannot be achieved within these tools, contact [email protected] for a consultation
- Manage content on your site.
- Ensure your site adheres to the University of Minnesota’s accessibility standards.
- Ensure your site adheres to the University of Minnesota’s branding policy.
